South African Tour – This February, Spencer
embarks on his third return tour to South Africa since winning First Prize in
the 2004 UNISA International Piano Competition in Pretoria. Please see our

Recitals with "Singer of the World" – Spencer
will continue his collaboration with rising star, soprano Nicole Cabell,
winner of the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition in two recitals this spring:
The Tryon Fine Arts Center (Tryon, NC) on March 29th, and the
Joslyn Art Museum (Omaha, NE) on April 1st.
CD Party – On Nov. 14, 2007, The American
Pianists Association (APA) sponsored a CD release party and concert for
Spencer and two other APA fellowship winners who were also having CD's
released. WFYI,
Indianapolis public radio, broadcast the party live with interviews and
performances.
DEBUT CD!! –
In
early January, Spencer recorded his debut CD for Harmonia
Mundi USA. It features works of Debussy, Copland, and Busoni and a
world premiere of a work by Ellis Kohs. Click here for more

SPENCER WINS American Pianists' Association Classical Fellowship Awards
Competition –On April 30, 2006, Spencer won this prestigious competition as well as both special prizes offered
(vocal accompanying and chamber music). More >
Semi-Finalist - Representing the USA – Busoni Piano Competition
— Spencer was one of six finalists in the 2005 Busoni International Piano Competition.
He received the 5th Prize as well as the Audience Prize
Finalist – Cleveland International Piano Competition. Spencer took 4th Prize in the Cleveland International Piano Competition and won special prizes for best performances of a contemporary work and an American work written after 1944. As one of
four finalists, he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto #4 with the Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by Jahja Ling, in Severance Hall.
FIRST PRIZE - On Saturday February 7th, 2004, Spencer won the GRAND PRIZE in the Unisa International Piano Competition in Pretoria, South Africa. In the final round, he performed Mozart's Piano Concerto #9 and Beethoven's Piano Concerto #4 with the Chamber Orchestra of South Africa. In addition, he won special prizes for:
- Best Performance of Bach
- Best Performance of the Third Round Recital
- Best Performance of the Commissioned Piece
- Best Performance of a Classical Concerto
- Best Performance of a Romantic Concerto
